How To Get Certified with NRVIA
NRVIA provides Level 1 certification through a testing process. There are two exams administered to all candidates.
There are 2 different tracks you can take to become a Certified NRVIA Inspector:
This track format requires the individual to participate in a structured, self-paced learning process of online videos and quizzes on the various systems found in today’s RVs. This training will be available in the member’s area of this website. Access to this area of the website will be granted after registering for the NRVIA Inspector Membership for $499 ($299/year renewal).
To assist you in developing your RV Inspection business you will also be encouraged to participate in a Business Development sequence of sessions to help you develop your small business entity and prepare to operate your very own small business as an RV Inspector. These training sessions will also be available inside the member’s area.
At the conclusion of the online training you will need to take the NRVIA Technical Knowledge & Skills test as well as the Standards of Practice & Code of Ethics exam. Once you successfully complete and pass these two exams with a score of 70% or better, you will be issued your Level 1 Certified RV Inspector credentials. Congratulations! At this point you will be a Level 1 NRVIA Certified RV Inspector member!
This track format requires that you attend an NRVIA approved training program that will provide you with the knowledge base you will need to test and gain your credentials along with the know how to develop your RV Inspection business. - The Technical Knowledge & Skills Exam is focused on the technical knowledge gained from the live training. Successful completion of the exam requires the knowledge of the key RV systems, appliances, structural integrity, and general knowledge pertinent to the construction and expectations of the recreational vehicles being inspected.
- The Standards of Practice & Code of Ethics Exam will validate your understanding of the minimum requirements of an RV Inspection and the Ethics required of an RV Inspection professional.
Once you successfully complete these two exams you will be issued your Level 1 Certified RV Inspector credentials. Congratulations! At this point you will be a Level 1 NRVIA Certified RV Inspector member!
The next step in developing your successful inspection business is to register and attend an Advanced Inspector Training course that is taught by an advanced Certified Trainer who has been trained to teach others. This class is also referred to as the Learn By Doing class since it is completely hands-on and requires you to complete two full Level 2 type inspections.
